Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP injections)

A relatively novel procedure that involves taking the patient’s own blood and extracting an isolated dose of platelets from this sample that can be directly injected into a damaged tissue to promote healing.

Typically used for soft tissue injuries where the healing is often a slow process due to the nature of the underlying pathology, for example in chronic tendinopathy. Continuation of rehab post injection is vital in providing the best long-term outcome and maximising its effects.

These injections can be repeated a few weeks apart to allow for the optimal healing of tissues.
